Artist statement:

I know that the truth can sometimes be stranger than fiction, and photography began for me as a means to document things I found fascinating. I use photography to show that spectacular things are possible without digital manipulation or fabrication. I strive to show that what we experience everyday is often more remarkable than what one can imagine.

My initial foray into photography was in the setting of forensic science and accurate representation of the truth was the primary goal. This remains paramount in my current work. The images I capture are of items, places or people that appear common at first glance. Upon closer inspection these images transform into something other than the expected. At other times, the goal is to make the viewer believe they’re seeing something quite otherworldly. I want the viewer to feel they’re looking at something from a dream, which becomes even more spectacular when they discover it’s actually something rather ordinary.

Artist’s Bio:

Chris first began taking photographs while studying forensic science in 2001. Largely self-educated, he continues to experiment with new techniques and subject matter. He lives in Chicago with his wife.
